Thallus white to cream-coloured, yellow-grey or pale grey, smooth to rugulose and slightly warty, weakly rimose, c. 0.3 mm thick; cortex poorly developed, esorediate. Apothecia sessile, constricted at the base, 1.0–1.5 mm diam., not confluent; disc orange-red to red-brown, epruinose; thalline margin prominent, smooth to crenulate. Ascospores fusiform, straight or slightly curved, 5–7-septate, 35–55 × 3.5–5.0 µm. Conidia curved-filiform, 14–16 × c. 0.8 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus K+ yellow, C–, KC–, Pd+ yellow; disc K+ red; containing atranorin, placodiolic acid (major), russulone (minor) and ±psoromic acid (major). | ||
A scattered, corticolous species in humid forests of eastern Qld and N.S.W.; also in Central and South America. | ||
